about cactus leather

Cactus leather is a real alternative to animal leather, made from organically grown nopal cactus in Zacatecas, Mexico. The process is free from toxic chemicals, phthalates, and PVC and uses organic pigments for coloring. The material is 90% plant-based, with a bio-based polymer coating derived from natural oils, ensuring it remains vegan and environmentally responsible.

Because cactus leather is made from natural fibers, it does not behave exactly like traditional animal leather or synthetic alternatives. It has a unique soft, matte texture, giving it an elegant and timeless look.

NATURAL CHARACTERISTICS & VARIATIONS
  • Since cactus leather is an organic material, slight variations in texture, grain, and color are completely normal and part of its natural beauty.
  • Over time, with regular use, the material may develop a soft patina—this is not a defect but a natural process that enhances its character.
  • Unlike synthetic leathers, cactus leather is breathable and biodegradable, meaning it will naturally age over time when exposed to certain elements.

Care & maintenance tips

Cactus leather is designed to last years with proper care. Follow these guidelines to keep your bag looking its best:

General Care

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to water and humidity—while the material is water-resistant, it is not waterproof. If your bag gets wet, dry it immediately with a soft cloth and let it air dry away from direct heat or sunlight.
  • Avoid contact with rough or abrasive surfaces that can scratch or damage the outer coating.
  • Do not overload the bag, as excessive weight can put strain on the material and seams over time.

Cleaning your Bag

  • Use a soft, damp cloth with a mild, neutral soap to gently clean the surface. Avoid harsh chemicals, alcohol, acetone, bleach, oils, or silicone-based products, as these can damage the material.
  • If you get ink, oil, or makeup on your bag, clean it immediately with a mild soap and a white cotton cloth. For tougher stains, a half-water, half-mild disinfectant solution (chlorine-free) may help.
  • For light-colored bags: These require more frequent cleaning as natural materials are more porous and can absorb dirt more easily.

stain removal guide

  • Beverages (coffee, tea, wine, juice, soda, alcohol): Wipe immediately with a damp cloth and a mild soap solution.
  • Oils, grease, sunscreen, or cosmetics: Gently blot with a damp cloth and neutral soap—avoid rubbing as it can spread the stain.
  • Pen marks and ink stains: These are difficult to remove; avoid using ink near your bag.

storage recommendations

  • Store your bag away from direct sunlight, heat, or humidity when not in use.
  • Avoid folding or stacking heavy items on top of the bag to prevent creases or deformation.
